What is a normal day at Master's Commission?
The SMC schedule can vary depending on the different ministries that we are working with at the time. Mornings are a time of taking in and learning; afternoons a time of pouring out and application. Mornings will be spent largely in organised personal prayer, Bible study, scripture memorisation and work on the required study courses. Afternoons and evenings will be spent in ministry-training and hands-on ministry experience.
How do the academics work?
Academics are an important part of SMC. Students will spend time daily in studies through correspondence courses from Mattersey Hall Bible College. Various pastors and staff members at Shoreline Church will instruct these courses.
It is our goal that the studies completed can be accredited to any ministerial status application with the Assemblies of God. Scripture study and memorisation are a foundation of Master’s Commission and specifically here at SMC. Each week you will spend time studying, learning, and memorising God’s word. It is our desire that you will bury scripture deep in your heart.
Where will I live?
SMC students will live with home-openers from the congregation of Shoreline Church or in student dormitories. Home-openers are screened and interviewed by SMC and Shoreline staff before they are given approval to house students. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by SMC and evening meals will be the students’ responsibility, but may be provided by some home-openers. Student placement depends on availability, and requests are not taken.
Is everyone who applies going to be accepted?
While we believe that everyone would greatly benefit from Master's Commission, there may be a more suited programme or different timing that God has planned. Everyone who applies to this programme, his or her application will be prayerfully and carefully considered.
Is Master's Commission only for those desiring to be in full-time ministry?
No and Yes! As disciples of Christ, we believe that whatever we do career-wise, whether it be in the workforce or church, should be done with the thought, “How can I further the Kingdom of God through this career field?”
So how do I apply and what happens after that?
We ask that you carefully read through all the information in this brochure. After prayerful consideration, you can mail in the enclosed information card and we’ll mail you a SMC application pack.
Alternatively, you can print an application by clicking here. Once we receive your application we will set up a phone interview, after which we as a staff will prayerfully consider your application and seek God’s direction. We endeavour to have an answer to you within 3 weeks of your interview. At anytime if you feel you’d like to have more information or speak to someone, please do not hesitate to contact us.
